If you or someone you know is looking to talk with a counselor, look for local services, download a helpful app, or just learn more about youth mental health, the following resources are free to use for children, teens, and families. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

We can all help prevent suicide. The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project has a call-in lifeline, chatline, and text message line for teens to get help or speak with a counselor. Visit their website to connect with a counselor online or call/text one of the helplines below.

Crisis Text Line

Crisis Text Line serves anyone, in any type of crisis, providing access to free, 24/7 support and information via the medium people already use and trust: text. A live, trained Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds quickly and will help move you from a hot moment to a cool moment. This service is completely free, but messaging rates apply if you’re NOT on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, or T-Mobile.

Your Life Your Voice

YourLifeYourVoice.org is part of The Boys Town National Hotline. Counselors are available 24/7 and have a wide range of experiences working with kids and families who are frustrated, depressed, or just need someone to talk to.

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or you are being abused, please call us. These are serious issues that are best handled in one-on-one conversations with counselors.

When you e-mail a question we will send a response back to you within 48 hours. We post selected questions and responses on our bulletin board board a few days later.

TeenTribe

Peer-to-peer support group for teens faced with mental health challenges and/or difficult family dynamics. Members of our teen support group have access to the latest in social network technology including a dedicated activity stream, forum and chat room. In addition, members can participate in the larger wellness challenge through our inspirational wellness tools — wellness tracker, friend reminders, mood mapping and kudos.

Trevorspace

This social media platform allows LGBTQ youth, ages 15-24, to communicate about shared experiences and access support.

Stories by people who have been through a crisis and have found hope. Open to ages 15 to 24. 

Ok2Talk

An online community for teens and young adults (ages 15-24) struggling with mental health problems, allowing for a space to share experiences.

You Are Not Alone (Tumblr)

This Tumblr page is provided by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). It is open to youth of all ages as a safe place for self-expression on mental health. 

Teen Line

Teen Line provides confidential support for teens through phone, text, email, and online message boards. Teens can talk to their peers who are trained to provide support and encouragement. 

Call (310) 855-HOPE or (800) TLC-TEEN (nationwide toll-free) from 6pm to 10pm PST.

Text "TEEN" to 839863 between 6:00pm-9:00pm PST to speak with one of our teens.
